Does Unemployment Have An Affect On Moving?

by Mark on January 17, 2012

There is a very simple answer to this question. The answer is yes. Unemployment has an affect on everything the people do including moving. Moving, your home, your car, the city you live in, these all boil down to one simple thing, money. Money will be the ultimate deciding factor for where you live. If you don’t have enough money, you obviously can’t live in a mansion in some big city. Who wants to work three jobs just afford a big house on the hill? The amount of money that you make will have an affect on everything.

Unemployment can cause you to move

Unemployment could very well be the only reason you are moving. If you lost your job, but were lucky enough to find a replacement job, then everything might be okay, but what if your replacement job pays less. What if it pays a lot less? You might not be able to afford the house that you are currently living in. So what choice do you have? You have to move. You have been forced to downsize and choose a new place to live that is more affordable.

For a lot of people this can be a huge blow to their ego. For some reason they have the idea that the house they live in is somehow a measurement of their success level in life, but it is not. The real way to measure your success in life is happiness. Would you be happier living in a house that you know you can afford, or would you be happier working three jobs to keep your house to impress your friends and family. If they only like you for your house, then they are not your friends anyway.

Avoid unemployment by moving!

Perhaps you are not unemployed yet, but you know that it is coming. Hopefully your employer was decent enough to give you a little bit of a heads up that they are not going to be needing you in the future. A lot of companies will offer up new jobs, but there is a catch. In order to get the new job, you will have to pack up all of your things and move to a new city. This can be a tough challenge, but at least you still have a job. If you choose to stay, what are you going to do? You will end up in the unemployment line. This is a place that you want to avoid if you can.

Take the new job in the new city, and take it as an adventure. A change in your life that was long overdue. Who knows what might be waiting for you in your new home, in your new city. Just don’t forget to have some common sense when you do move.

Moving is stressful, don’t let the move get the best of you. Plan everything out, and make a moving list or two. A good game plan makes for an even better move.
